Skyhomes with balcony pools set for $250m Qld hotel development

First look at Paloma Paloma, a world class $250 million dollar hotel and residential development that will transform Caloundra and the Sunshine Coast.

A $250m hotel and residential resort living project “unlike anything on the Sunshine Coast” will add 84 new homes to the market, including skyhomes with personal balcony pools.

Pictures released by developers of Paloma Paloma in Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast offered a taste of what buyers could expect to see off the large development.

It opened for registrations of interest last week Colliers residential director Daniel Hirtz seeing a flood of enquiries from buyers and the community.

“The response from buyers has been amazing,” he said, with calls also coming from local business people and residents wanting more information on the project.

“Particularly locals say it’s long overdue and fantastic to see not only will that offering be built but it’s something special and amazing that everyone will be proud of.”

Paloma Paloma was expected to connect residents and guests to nature at every opportunity.

Among services buyers of the two, three and four bedroom apartments could expect were “unparalleled common facilities, residential pool and home service”, according to developers.

Mr Hirst said it was most two and three bedroom enquiries that had come in early from owner occupiers within the 4551 postcode, Brisbane residents wanting to downsize to premium apartment living and some interstate queries.

The site on Bulcock and Knox Streets was last week painted Pink Fire as part of an ongoing art installation with construction due to begin mid this year.

Mr Hirtz said he’d fielded calls from local and interstate artists as well wanting to be involved in the project, as well as local businesses wanting to know more about the project and how it would benefit them.

He said it would be an iconic project that “will be known equally in Caloundra as in Perth” upon completion.

The development site was expected to play host to community events, celebrations, arthouse shows and “unexpected experiences” in the coming months leading up to groundbreaking.

Ready for change come mid-2022.

Dylan Brady of Decibel Architecture said Paloma Paloma was different to everything around it.

“Totally unexpected. Refreshingly exceptional,” was how he described it.

Among the chief elements in planning was design and materials that connect people to nature, with outdoor bathing gardens and sky home kitchens “filled with life”.

Paloma Paloma will be built in beautiful Caloundra at the bottom of the Sunshine Coast.

“The architecture is inspired by the rocky headlands of Caloundra, the rockpool marbled tidal ledges and the weathered curvature of sand and sea worn stones and dunes,” he said.

“Working within the permitted envelope we have carefully reimagined the design, connecting the site to the street and delivering a totally unexpected lifestyle, hotel, residential and hospitality experience.”

He expected the project to set a new benchmark for excellence.
