A heavenly opportunity awaits with the upcoming sale of Birregurra’s historic Uniting Church building and neighbouring manse.

The circa 1908 red brick church is being auctioned as part of a 6069sq m parcel of land that offers picturesque views over the Barwon River.

Colliers International agent Andrew Lewis says the church at 1 Jenner St and the five-bedroom house at 8 Skene St were being sold as one property with three titles.

Lewis says there is significant scope to further develop the large site or build holiday accommodation to take advantage of its river and golf course views while honouring its heritage appeal.

High timber ceilings and stained glass windows adorn the church.

The building has most recently been used by the Uniting Church.

“With the church they are not using it enough so it has come onto the market,” he says.

“It would lend itself to development, it’s a nice part of Birregurra.

“It actually overlooks the Barwon River, it’s a really pretty spot.”

He said the site’s potential had already attracted strong interest, with 10 groups turning out for the first open for inspection.

Price hopes for the property at $690,000 to $755,000.

The church, which is surrounded by mature gardens and comes with a basic kitchen, meeting rooms and main seating area, could lend itself to a conversion project.

The setting could lend itself to holiday accommodation.

The neighbouring brick house offers five bedrooms, a loungeroom with a wood heater, kitchen/meals area and a double carport.

Both addresses have township zoning and are close to Birregurra Primary School and the main street.

Lewis will auction the property onsite on February 8 at noon.
