Developers have unveiled their vision for a 12-storey office complex in central Geelong after the project received the planning green light.

Construction for the 16 Gheringhap St office building is slated to start in early 2020 after developer Raffles Chatter’s planning application was approved by the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal earlier this year.

Property advisers to the project, Geelong West commercial real estate agents Darcy Jarman, have placed a full-page advertisement in today’s Advertiser business section touting the project as “the most exciting commercial offering in the heart of the ever evolving Geelong CBD.”

The building will offer more than 10,000sqm of office space, with flexible floorplates up to 1050sqm providing natural light and panoramic views of Corio Bay to the north and Johnstone Park to the south.

End of trip facilities include secure bicycle parking for 100 bikes, lockers and shower and charging stations in the car park, which has space for 24 vehicles, while a podium and rooftop terrace matches other major high-rise commercial developments in the area, including the WorkSafe headquarters diagonally opposite at 1 Malop St.

The amount of car parking provided was one of the key topics in the recent VCAT hearing on the building.

VCAT approved the endorsed plans, rejecting council’s push for more car park spaces after the developers argued the plan encouraged more sustainable transport usage.

The 16 Gheringhap St development includes spaces for retail, food and drink businesses and a client services lounge at the ground level.
