Lake Tyers Beach is located 327 kms east of Melbourne on the beautiful 90 Mile Beach and is well known as a boating, fishing and surfing mecca. The Lake Tyers Beach General Store has been operating on the current site since the 1980's and is the only retail business in Lake Tyers Beach. The town has a permanent population of around 600 people which increases to approximately 2,000 in the peak season and neighbouring Lakes Entrance has a population of 8,000 people which swells to around 20,000 in peak season.

The business stocks groceries, newspapers, milk, bread and does a particularly good trade in bait and fishing tackle. The business also has a packaged liquor licence and sells a range of beer and wine. The store has a reputation for good coffee and quality take away food which including their famous burgers and home-made sausage rolls. The Lake Tyers Camp and Caravan Park operates across the road from the store and attracts strong visitor numbers all year round.
