Statement of Significance
The row of shows makes an important contribution to the visual character of Hampton road, a streetscape comprised of many traditional commercial buildings, dating from the turn of the Twentieth Century. Collectively, these places make a positive contribution to the local sense of place and local identity. The row of shops demonstrate the variation in the use of materials in regional areas and the practice whereby shopkeepers lived behind their shops.
