TasPorts, as the operator of the Devonport Airport, is seeking experienced and innovative café operators to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the management and operation of the Devonport Airport Café.
Devonport Airport is a key aviation gateway for North-West Tasmania, servicing regional residents, visitors, and business travellers.
About Devonport Airport
• Devonport Airport handles approximately 141,000 passengers per annum across more than 3,500 commercial flights.
• Passenger volumes continue to grow by approximately 5% per year, with further growth anticipated under the Devonport Airport Master Plan 2035.
Peak Trading Periods
Café activity aligns closely with airline schedules. Predictable peak periods include:
• One hour prior to all Regular Public Transport (RPT) departures.
• Morning and late afternoon flights.
• Weekends and school holidays.
• Seasonal tourism peaks, particularly during summer.
Operational Requirements
The successful operator will be required to:
• Operate 7 days a week.
• Open at least 60 minutes prior to every RPT flight departure.
• Remain open until 7pm each evening, if a flight is scheduled to depart after 7pm, you may use your discretion as to whether or not the café remains operational after 7pm.
• Ensure availability during all key passenger movement periods.
• Deliver consistent, reliable and high-quality service.
• Ensure all staff are eligible for an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
Desired Operator Capabilities
We are seeking an operator who can demonstrate:
• Proven experience in café and hospitality operations, ideally in fast-paced or transport-hub environments.
• A menu showcasing Tasmanian and specifically North-West regional produce.
• A diverse range of food and beverage options.
• A functional, welcoming design concept aligned to the airport environment.
• Excellent customer service and consistent staffing.
• Commitment to sustainable practices, including waste reduction and local sourcing.
