Known for its tropical climate, its small and friendly indigenous population and its exclusive fishing, the Tiwi Islands is not open to the public for tourism, except on organised trips operated by groups such as Tiwi Islands Adventures.

The remote and remarkable area consists of thousands of square kilometres of eucalypt, paperbark and monsoon vine forest, coastal wetlands, secluded waterfalls and deserted beaches. An extensive array of mangrove lined river and creek systems, sand flats, bays, inlets and coastal reefs, all abundant with marine life, means the Tiwi Islands are also an unspoiled angler's paradise.

Melville Island Lodge headquarters situated on the shores of Snake Bay. The property is located within the township of Milikapiti (Snake Bay) which is located on the north coast of Melville Island with a population of about 450.

Infrastructure Urban services (water, electricity) are available in Milikapiti, including daily flights to Darwin. Access to the Tiwi Islands is via Darwin, where you are transported to the islands by light aircraft, a scenic 30 minute private charter flight.

The property comprises the Lodge and supporting infrastructure.
• Accommodation consists of 2 x VIP rooms, 6 cabin style rooms and 6 single rooms. There is a total of 15 rooms with a maximum capacity of 21 guests.
• Communal facilities include a covered deck which has a lock up kitchen/bar and a large seating area with views over Snake Bay.
• Staff facilities includes the managers residence which includes two bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom. There is also a further 9 separate rooms for other staff.
• There are 11 operational fishing vessels (these are rotated in their use), and eight supporting vehicles including Landcruiser's Troop carriers, bus and petrol tanker.

Tiwi Islands Adventures holds permits to fish the red fishing zone which covers the north and west coasts of the Island. Tiwi Islands Adventures have operated here since 1998 and cater for anglers of ALL skill levels, plus small corporate groups, seeking a remote, yet comfortable, professionally guided sport-fishing experience.

They provide our guests with a high-quality catch & release fishing adventure situated in a spectacular and pristine wilderness environment.
