Innisfail is renowned for its rainfall, and it is this that attracted the first settlers more than 110 years ago to grow Sugar Cane and Timber. Sugar is still one of the staples of the area as are Banana’s, Paw Paws and many other exotic fruits. There are also many other fruit, vegetable and spices grown in the area due to the continual water supply and the Cattle industry is also quite buoyant. The international deep water port at Mourilyan allows for ships with a draught of 8 metres and has recently had a multi million dollar upgrade to cater for a prospective increase in Cattle exports.

Innisfail itself is a beautiful town that is renowned for its Art Deco architecture. There are many attractions in the immediate area including Queensland’s number one tourism must do, Paronella Park. There is also the Mamu Canopy Walk, numerous freshwater swimming holes and the fabled Etty Bay beach where you can swim all year round due to the stinger enclosure.
