Colliers International is pleased to assist the State of Tasmania to identify a suitable partner(s) to develop a new iconic tourism experience at the Cradle Mountain Gateway Precinct, located on the edge of the Tasmanian World Heritage Area. The Government will contribute up to $5 million as part of a co-investment to develop this iconic experience at this unique site.

The Cradle Mountain – Lake St Clair National Park is one of Australia’s most special places and a tremendous draw for tourists to visit Tasmania. A world-renowned heritage precinct and national park which forms part of the UNESCO Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. It is a place of wild and beautiful landscapes and a pristine natural environment.

The Tasmanian Government is committed to the implementation of the Cradle Mountain Visitor Experience Master Plan to ensure this iconic Australian site is preserved for future generations and provides visitors with an outstanding visitor experience.

A Request for Expressions of Interest (REOI) was launched in late 2018 and a number of high quality proposals were received. Through discussions with bidders, from the REOI process and feedback from the market, it is now apparent that an alternative tenure is required for the Gateway Precinct. As such, the Tasmanian Government will now consider offering a freehold option on the development envelope in the precinct in addition to the leasehold option.
