John Cunningham

Commencing his real estate career in 1977, John is a highly regarded real estate identity in Australia and a true veteran of the industry. He began with a very simple philosophy, to establish business relationships built on trust and transparency while delivering first class service and results for his clients. John has worked hard to make this the trademark of his own real estate career, as well as laying the foundations for the Cunninghams business and its people. Opening Cunningham Real Estate in 1991 with his wife Ann, John pioneered this philosophy throughout his career which has turned the small family business into a burgeoning, trusted and cutting-edge real estate brand based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Cunninghams now operates over four offices with over 80 staff members from Manly, Balgowlah, Dee Why and Avalon Beach.

Over his career, John's innovative and personal approach coupled with his expertise and intimate knowledge of the market, have set himself and Cunninghams as a benchmark business in the industry. His team has become one of the most highly awarded in Australia and the business is recognised throughout Australasia for its best practice systems and operations.

John is a proud and active member of the Real Estate Institute of NSW, serving on the Board of Directors for twelve years, and in November 2015 was elected as President for a two-year term. In 2018, John was recognised for his contribution to the Real Estate Industry and was awarded the prestigious Woodrow Weight Award from the REINSW and then in 2019 he was awarded the highest honour in Australia, the REIA Presidents Award for services to the real estate industry in Australia.

John’s dream of transforming the industry into a profession has been a passion project for the past ten years and John continues to forge positive change for agents and consumers alike. In another major project, John is joining forces with other industry leaders to build the RISE initiative, which aims to create a new sustainable work environment for the industry through wellness, inspiration, and mastery with a focus on mental health for everyone in the real estate industry.
