On a personal level, Barry is a keen and successful sportsman having participated in representative teams both nationally and internationally.
He enjoys all outdoor activities and can be regularly seen jogging the streets of Hobart, exercising in the various gyms he has associations with or reaching out to youth groups and disadvantaged teens to keep them moving.
Spending time with his family, however, is the activity that gives him the most pleasure, with an adult son embarking on his own career, he lives in Hobart's Eastern Shore with his three other beautiful boys, Luca, Jude and Tedy.
