11 Technopark Drive is situated within the 'Launceston Technopark' in suburban Kings Meadows about 5 kilometres south from Launceston CBD.
The Technopark is a Tasmanian Government sponsored initiative and was established in 1996 as a state of the art development to attract call centres to Launceston. There are two Westpac call centres, a Centrelink facility and ABC Child Care Centre surrounding this facility.
The building comprises a single level purpose built 180-seat facility of some 1,750 sqm gross floor area, completed in 2002. The building was constructed for the purpose of the design brief and standards of Telstra at the time. The current internal fitout (including cabling and call centre cells) has been left behind by Telstra and will be included as part of the leasing deal to the new lessee, or purchaser.
The layout of the complex provides a large open plan call centre cell designed around managers support offices, several meeting/training areas and utility rooms. The main reception, toilet and amenities are towards the front of the building.
External areas consist of a large car park (180 spaces), extensive lawns, walkways and some landscaped areas. An attractive open-air staff area (patio) is accessible directly from the kitchen/cafeteria within the building.
